Two years have passed since the Eclipse. After many battles, fate leads Guts, known as the Black Swordsman, and his companion Puck to a destitute village, where the inhabitants suffer from incursions of "elves." But as soon as Guts catches... them in the act of robbery, it becomes clear to him: these are no elves, but monstrous insects that devour people and livestock. The common folk cannot find a way to deal with them: the swarm, like locusts, destroys everything in its path, and if it spots a child, it will carry it off to its nest.
By chance, Guts saves Jill, who tells him about the Misty Valley, from where the sinister "elves" come. Very soon, the Queen of the swarm appears, in whom Jill recognizes her missing friend Rosina…
