Moby Dick, or The Whale

One of the best books about fate and inevitable doom, fate. A song of sorrow and tragedy. The splash of salty water on the face, the creaking of masts and gusts of icy wind burst into reality from the pages of the novel. The Pequod still sails through the ocean of human sorrows with its crew of degenerates, bastards, and cannibals, searching for the most terrifying monster that inhabits the universe. Fear – that is its name. To kill it within themselves. There is no better fate, greater valor, and greater honor. The courage before which the heroes of Homer pale. A song about the suffering of the human soul, penetrating to the bones, sending shivers down the spine.
Herman Melville (1819–1891) – a famous American writer. He sailed as a cabin boy on a packet ship at 18, worked as a teacher for some time, and then found himself on a whaling ship. Unable to withstand the tyranny of the harsh captain, he escaped. For a month he lived among cannibals in the valley of Typee. He began his creative career by describing his life in captivity.
“Moby Dick, or The Whale” – is one of the greatest American novels and an allegory of the struggle of man against the evil of the world. The author called the book a romantic adventure, based on his two-year experience as a harpooner and on one of those wild legends that circulate among whalers of the southern seas. The plot is based on a true story. Ernest Hemingway and William Faulkner proclaimed the novel a literary icon, and in the USA, there is still a true cult of Melville.
