Starting from his career in the service of Russia, recounting his participation in the Russo-Japanese War, later - a reconnaissance expedition to Mongolia and China, Mannerheim then delves into the details of the political confrontation of European countries.
He writes, already holding prominent positions in the government of Finland, about his diplomatic missions to London and Paris for peaceful purposes for the benefit and independence of Finland, about meetings with Hitler, about the military actions of the two world wars, and importantly, about the details of the Liberation War in Finland and the Soviet-Finnish (Winter) War.
