Lieutenant General of the Russian army, Field Marshal of Finland, President of Finland Carl Gustav Mannerheim, being a personality not only far from ordinary but also having played an important role in the history of his country, who was awarded numerous awards from different states for his rich biography, upon retirement, felt it necessary to recount the events that deeply influenced the fate of his homeland, in which he was directly involved. Starting from his career in the service of Russia, recounting his participation in the Russo-Japanese War, later - a reconnaissance expedition to Mongolia and China, Mannerheim then delves into the details of the political confrontation of European countries.

He writes, already holding prominent positions in the government of Finland, about his diplomatic missions to London and Paris for peaceful purposes for the benefit and independence of Finland, about meetings with Hitler, about the military actions of the two world wars, and importantly, about the details of the Liberation War in Finland and the Soviet-Finnish (Winter) War.
