"Paths of Glory" – is a duel game that offers players to go through the entire campaign from 1914 to 1918. Each player takes control of one side of the conflict, using the tactical and strategic advantages corresponding to the... sides to achieve their goal:
– the player commanding the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary) can use the advantages of geographical position, as well as the good training of German troops;
– the player on the side of the Entente can take advantage of the numerical superiority of their forces, but they will have to act quickly, as time, unfortunately, works against them.
"Paths of Glory" is not limited to just the main participants in the hostilities; the game covers all fronts of World War I: from the Baltics to Belgium, from North Africa to the Balkans. And players will not manage individual soldiers or individual platoons, but entire corps of troops from different countries. This makes the game a truly global strategy. And such realities of warfare as flanking attacks, trench warfare, and maneuvering are included in the game for a reason – they are a very important part of the gameplay: players will have to rack their brains on how to break through the line of defense when the opponent starts building trenches.
Each card in the game is a historical event that took place during the actual hostilities. And each such event can be explored in more detail in the rulebook. The campaign lasts 20 turns, which are divided into several action rounds. The player who captures more key regions is the winner.
The Russian edition of "Paths of Glory" includes all official rule updates at the time of the game's release.
