The Renaissance is traditionally associated with Italian art. This is logical, as Italy is the birthplace of the Renaissance. However, this movement was so powerful and vibrant that it spread to countries north of Italy—Netherlands, Germany, France—becoming known as the Northern Renaissance. However, this term is not just a geographical definition of the region. The art of the Northern European countries acquired its specific features, offering the world culture extraordinarily interesting, often unique, and unparalleled works.
Within the framework of the Northern Renaissance worked such outstanding masters as van Eyck, Bosch, Bruegel, Dürer, Holbein, Cranach... The album presents the works of more than 20 artists and the entire spectrum of works from this era, from book miniatures to huge multi-panel altarpieces, from magnificent portraits to biblical scenes, landscapes, and genre scenes. All these works were created with such skill and attention to the tiniest details that one marvels at how finely and carefully they are made.
