The era of Catherine the Great is remembered in history as a time of the greatest foreign policy successes of Russia. The Crimean Peninsula, Kuban, and all of the Northern Black Sea region, Right Bank Ukraine, Belarus, and Lithuania were annexed to the Russian Empire. The glory of the Russian arms thundered across Europe, striking terror into the enemies of Russia. The new book by the famous historian Alexei Shishov is dedicated to the "Catherine's Eagles" — the celebrated Russian commanders of that time.
