The Commanders of the Era of Alexander II

The era of Alexander II the Liberator has entered Russian history as the time of the Great Reforms. While the abolition of serfdom changed the social face of Russian society, the military reforms of D.A. Milyutin transformed the Russian army. It became stronger, had a large prepared reserve, and met all the demands of its time. The three decades of Alexander II's reign were marked by the conclusion of the Crimean and Caucasian Wars, the heavy trial of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878, which restored Russia's status as a Great Power, and the annexation of Central Asia.
The new book by the renowned historian Alexei Shishov is dedicated to the army and the commanders of the Russian state of that time, who covered Russian arms with new glory on the battlefields in the Balkans, the Caucasus, and Turkestan.
