The Epic of Heroes of Ancient Rus

This book reprints two rare studies from the mid-19th century on the history of ancient Russian culture: «The Heroes of the Time of Grand Prince Vladimir According to Russian Songs», written by one of the leaders of the Slavophile movement,... Konstantin Sergeyevich Aksakov (1817—1860), and «Features of the Popular Southern Russian History» by Nikolai Ivanovich Kostomarov (1817—1885). The appendix includes songs about Ilya Muromets and Dobrynya Nikitich from the collection of Russian songs, prepared by the member of the Slavophile circle, Pyotr Vasilyevich Kireyevsky (1808—1856), which were used in the published works as subjects of research.
