Blade of Night

The Great War divided the United Kingdom into three states: Southern, Northern, and Western. Chronicles claimed that the war was unleashed by the ruthless Blades of Night, and soon they were exterminated in all kingdoms. A thousand years later, the wandering warrior Shigeru picks up Ryu, who loses his parents after a bandit attack. Discovering the special gift that Ryu possesses, Shigeru takes the boy as his apprentice. At the same time, the quiet Moriko, the daughter of a woodcutter, is taken for training in the monastic order of the Blades of Day, whom she despises. The monks know what power lies within Moriko. Meanwhile, the young and beautiful Takako embarks on a journey with her father, unaware of the fate her family has chosen for her.
