Maniac Gurevich

The novel "Maniac Gurevich" is rightly subtitled "a biography in pictures" – it is the author's first attempt to combine two literary forms: an extended novel over time with a whole garland of "pictures" about Dr. Gurevich, from his early... childhood to the present day: amusing, absurd, touching, piercing, sad, or hilariously funny. Thanks to this flexible structure, the book "breathes easily". The action rushes forward, not dragging with the heavy backside of high morality, not squeezing out "philosophical ideas", not nursing heroes in high heels, which the so-called "serious award literature" sins with nowadays. At the same time, in Dina Rubina's novel, there is depth of experience and sharpness of human existence sensations.
