Having read many chivalric romances and feeling slightly fatigued from a lack of fresh air, a penniless nobleman at the twilight of his life decides to become a wandering knight and replicate the feats of his favorite literary heroes. Acquiring... rusty armor and mounting a lame horse, the hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha, accompanied by his loyal squire Sancho Panza, sets off on his journey. But reality contrasts with his fantasies, and the Knight of the Sad Countenance, as his squire dubbed him, finds himself in absurd situations time and again: he challenges a flock of sheep, liberates captured bandits, and suffers defeat in a battle against windmills. Intended as a parody of chivalric romances, 'Don Quixote' has been translated into all major languages of the world and included in the 'World Library' as the 'best book of all time and peoples.'
