Conjectures and Dreams about Primitive Humanity

This publication presents selected works of the outstanding Russian folklorist, linguist, and literary scholar Academic Fyodor Ivanovich Buslaev (1818-1897). Fyodor I. Buslaev's views on the fate of Russian literature are comprehensively revealed in his works "Epic Poetry," "Russian Life and... Proverbs," and "The Earliest Epic Traditions of the Slavic Tribes." His fundamental works "Comparative Study of Folk Life and Poetry" and "Conjectures and Dreams about Primitive Humanity" maintain their scientific significance. The distinctive position of Fyodor I. Buslaev in the literary and social life of the mid-19th century is represented in a series of his polemical articles and reviews. The publication also includes the correspondence of Fyodor I. Buslaev with his students - Academic A.N. Veselovsky and Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences A.I. Kirpichnikov.
