Ages to the beginning of the 20th century. This work arose from his general courses on modern history, which aimed to clarify the significance of the two main upheavals in the life of European West over the last four centuries, namely the Reformation and the Revolution, in connection with the general nature of modern history and its differences from medieval history. The book is written at a high theoretical level, drawing on a vast array of sources. Historical events are illuminated in relation to the overall cultural context, allowing one to see some hidden mechanisms driving the historical process and to trace their mutual influence, providing the necessary breadth of perspective for historical analysis and following the process of the emergence of the modern European. This book is published for the first time since its initial release.
This volume, which covers events at the beginning of the 20th century, was divided by the historian into two parts. The first part (chapters I-VIII) discusses international relations at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and the internal life of Western European countries up to 1914. In the second part (chapters IX-XII), the main socio-economic phenomena in the life of Western European countries, the most characteristic "intellectual currents" of the era, and the development of international relations in 1908-1914 are discussed.
The book can be recommended to both professional historians and anyone interested in the history of Europe.
