One of the favorite reader genres is stories about writers. The heroes of this book—Turgenev and Herzen, Pushkin and Nekrasov, Avdotya Panayeva and Polina Viardot, as well as many other representatives of the literary craft—come to us from the 19th century. The author writes freely and easily, immersing us in the atmosphere and conditions of their lives. Some characters transition from one text to another, which helps create a kind of meta-text, a unique novel woven from stories and novellas. And very often, the reader gets the feeling that the character is well known to them and that all described events actually took place, although the author, in his works alongside documents—letters, diaries, eyewitness accounts—widely uses imagination.
