Dmitry Garichev managed to find a special expressiveness in describing the life world of heroes whose youth fell in the 1990s-2010s. They seem to exist within a multidimensional painful fantasy, which, however, turns out to be less cruel than the... emerging reality of today's empty time. The opening story of the book, "Boys," tells of a peculiar philosophical experiment - a strange "republic" in a state of eternal simulated war, behind which real military actions can certainly be discerned. Following the hero, musician Nikita, the reader observes how the historical-political game, born of the imagination of intellectuals, leads to a cruel denouement. The book also includes a cycle of stories "Tales for Dead Children" that continues the line of the narrative, along with several standalone stories whose characters are united by a fear of the incomprehensible world. Its embodiment becomes easily recognizable suburban topoi, serving as a purgatory where the choice between sleep and reality, good and evil, past and present is almost impossible.
