The Influence of Naval Power on History

Alfred Thayer Mahan (1840-1914) – an American naval historian, rear admiral, and one of the founders of geopolitics. In his book, A.T. Mahan explores the influence of naval power on the course of history in Europe and America from 1660 to 1783, based on a wide range of factual material, formulates the patterns of naval warfare, and justifies the theory of "sea power". According to this theory, achieving dominance at sea was regarded as the fundamental law of war and the goal that ensures victory over the enemy and the conquest of world dominance.
