Kremlin Wives

The documentary and journalistic study by Larisa Vasilieva is dedicated to the fates of those women whose husbands were leaders of the Soviet state. From Nadezhda Krupskaya to Raisa Gorbacheva, the author paints portraits of the "Kremlin wives," narrating about... their characters, actions, and the complex intricacies of their life paths. What were these companions of the top officials of the USSR like? Was their life behind the Kremlin walls happy? Why were some of them arrested or exiled? A special place in the book is given to those who, not as wives but as comrades, entered the corridors of the Kremlin: Larisa Reisner, Aleksandra Kollontai, Galina Semyonova. The book is based on unique archival materials, personal impressions, conversations with eyewitnesses, and recollections of contemporaries.
