1948. On the outskirts of Kazan, an elderly couple, husband and wife, have been murdered and robbed. There are no signs of a break-in or damage to the door. Clearly, the owners let the murderer into their home and paid... for it with their lives. Major Vitaly Shchelkuno, head of the anti-banditry department, is puzzled: this is the third similar murder in recent weeks. In all cases, the victims were elderly people who were unable to resist.
