The second volume of the work of the famous Polish historian, as well as the governor of the kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria within the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is dedicated to the events from the third partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth to the restoration of the Polish state in 1918 and the establishment of borders in 1923. Analyzing archival documents, critically reflecting on numerous works of other scholars, and also drawing on his own experience in political activity, the author impartially presents historical facts, allowing for an understanding of the deeper processes occurring at that time not only in Poland but throughout Europe, as well as realizing the reasons behind many events today.
