The book by the prominent Russian Caucasian scholar, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor N.D. Sudavtsov, is dedicated to one of the outstanding military and state figures of Russia in the Caucasus in the 19th century, a representative of the ancient Armenian princely family, Vasily Iosifovich (Osipovich) Bebutov, General of the Infantry, member of the State Council of Russia. He was one of the few Caucasian generals who was born in the Caucasus, in Tiflis, made his brilliant military and state career here, and remained loyal to his homeland until the end of his days.
