The Letters of the Mahatmas

“The Letters of the Mahatmas” is a crucial source on the history of Theosophy and the Theosophical movement. This edition presents the correspondence that took place in the late 19th century between the Mahatmas of the East and A.P. Sinnett, the editor of the leading newspaper for the British in India, with clarified dating of the letters and annotations describing the circumstances of receiving each letter. Additionally, several letters have been included in the appendix that further illuminate these circumstances. For this edition, the translation was additionally verified against the original as well as, when necessary, with facsimiles of the letters that are now stored in the British Museum.
