Nikolai Danilevsky (1822–1885) was a Russian historian, philosopher, and geopolitician. In his work "Russia and Europe," he analyzes in detail the influence of Western culture on Russia. He examines various aspects of this influence — from economics to art, and... concludes that excessive orientation towards Europe can be detrimental to Russian identity. Fyodor Dostoevsky called the study "the bedside book of every Russian" and admitted that he awaited its new chapters as a hungry person awaits a piece of bread.
