The collection of paintings in the Tretyakov Gallery is truly astonishing. To explore all the halls and exhibitions, you will need a lot of time! But it's worth it. Especially if you love paintings. But what to do if you... want to visit the museum more often while spending less time? There is a solution! And of course, we mean this board game.
 
About the game
Despite its name, "Artline: Tretyakov Gallery" does not require any knowledge of art. You just need to be clever and approach the process from a creative angle! This card game based on associations was developed in direct collaboration with the State Tretyakov Gallery. Each card in it is unique and represents one of the works by famous artists that you will encounter in the Tretyakov Gallery: from Repin and Vasnetsov to Shishkin and Aivazovsky. Artline will brighten your leisure time in every sense of the word: the meditative gameplay will help you expand your creative horizons!
As you play the cards, you will either open and expand galleries or hold exhibitions. The main thing is to choose a common theme for the paintings in the museum. It all depends on you, but it's important that the canvases depict something similar. A gallery dedicated to "people" or "animals"? A simple category, no problem! A gallery with paintings that have red in the clothing? Already more complex, but also more interesting.
Sooner or later, it will come to exhibitions. Galleries will intersect, and in order to add new paintings to them, the cards must meet the requirements of both categories. Experiment with the galleries so that it’s easier for you to play your cards for the exhibition!
The game also offers several additional rule options: "Exhibition Season" and "Curators' Competition".
How to play?
Each player receives five cards in hand, which they need to get rid of faster than their opponents. The table in front of you is a museum. An open card is placed in the center of the table, which can be used to start opening galleries. The cards must continue the vertical or horizontal rows. Players take turns:
Open galleries – if a player places a second card in the row, they announce the theme of the gallery. Then, cards corresponding to the requirement can be placed in that row
Expand galleries – while continuing to play cards in the rows of galleries, players must adhere to the requirements of the gallery
Hold exhibitions – this is what every player strives for! To do this, you need to play a card in the "corner", that is, at the intersection of two galleries, so that the card meets all requirements. This action allows you to discard a card from your hand

Who won?
The game ends in the round when a player holds an exhibition and gets rid of their last card. All other players are left with one turn to catch up with the leader.
The game also stops if the cards run out in the deck – in this case, the player with the fewest remaining cards in hand wins.
