Marcus Aurelius was a Roman emperor who entered history as the “philosopher on the throne.” He was a representative of late Stoicism and left behind a collection of aphoristic thoughts, “Alone with Oneself,” which consists of 12 books, small chapters. In it, the emperor writes about life, death, fate, and the meaning of existence. But Marcus Aurelius does not just ponder; he shares the principles of his life, explaining how to be resilient and courageous in the face of life's adversities. His statements that everything that happens is for the best and that one must do what is necessary, come what may, are still relevant today.
