What happens in the distant future? They resurrect long-dead people.
One of them is Balthazar, a former Spanish inquisitor. Now he works as a detective, saving up for his cherished dream and striving to win the heart of the woman he loves... who torments him not only in reality but also in constant nightmares about the past.
Life is not perfect, but quite bearable, if not for a series of mysterious brutal suicides. The deceased have no reason to take their own lives, let alone do it in a monstrous, barbaric way. Only gelatinous shells found in their stomachs raise suspicions of outside interference.
