Erich Fromm is one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century, part of the great cohort of “philosophers of psychology” and a spiritual leader of the Frankfurt School of Sociology. Erich Fromm's work “The Art of Being” is a kind of supplement to his opus magnum – the famous “The Art of Love.” Who are we? Why? The meaning of life – or, more precisely, the meaning of existence – is the main question of all world philosophy. “To be or not to be?” – the question of questions, once posed by Hamlet. “To be,” – says Erich Fromm. But if to be, then how? And in what way? Fromm considered love to be an art accessible to everyone. But if love is an art, then is being also an art?
