The Constancy of the Predator

Mass graves have been found in long-closed and forgotten mines: dozens of women, raped and murdered, have lain there for many years, and it seems that the killer—who immediately received the grim nickname Charon—operated many decades ago. Meanwhile, women continue to be abducted and killed right now—and, judging by their mutilated corpses, this is the work of the same relentless predator, although in that case he is already nearly a hundred years old. But how is this possible? Does this mean that evil persists, self-reproduces, does not die even with the death of a person? Maxime Chattam is a French thriller star, a holder of prestigious awards, and the author of novels that have sold millions of copies in France and have become bestsellers in another two dozen countries. In his new novel, partly inspired by "The Silence of the Lambs" by one of his idols, Thomas Harris, former Paris investigative department employee Ludivine Wanker, moving to work in the department of behavioral sciences, encounters once again what she understands best in the world. What ominously looms right beyond the edge of humanity, just waiting for permission to enter. The predator does not slumber—he is frozen, lurking, and observing. In his constancy, he is unshakeable. He decides whether you are worthy of survival. For the first time in Russian!
