Once, approximately at the end of the 70s, while rereading "One-Storey America" by Ilf and Petrov, I thought: how great it would be to repeat the journey of Ilf and Petrov, but this time for television. This dream seemed completely... unrealistic. I knew that I would never be allowed to leave the country... But despite everything, almost 25 years later, it all came true. As Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol wrote, "whatever you say, such incidents do happen in the world — rarely, but they do." Gogol was right. Right.
