Taras Bulba

The elderly ataman Taras Bulba takes his sons to Sich to turn the former seminarians into real warriors. The riotous and carefree life of the Zaporozhian Cossacks has dragged on, and the new chief gathers an army for a campaign... against Poland. Taras and his sons also set out on the campaign. The basis of "Taras Bulba" lies in real historical documents about the Cossack uprising of 1637-1638. The story had a tremendous impact on its contemporaries and continues to enjoy well-deserved love nearly two centuries after its writing. The story has been adapted into film multiple times and is included in the list of recommended literature for school reading. This edition also includes other works from the cycle "Mirgorod".
