Experiment Set - Böttger Volcano

With the experiment set, the child will learn about the amazing properties of substances, conduct an exciting experiment, and impress friends. 

"Böttger Volcano" is a vivid demonstrative chemical experiment. It involves the combustion of ammonium dichromate. 

It will help with studies. 

• The experiment can be used as an example of a redox reaction. 
• Simple instructions: 

1. Put on gloves. Conduct the experiment in a well-ventilated area. It is better to cover the workspace to avoid stains. 
2. Pour the contents of the bag into a mound in an aluminum bowl. Place it on any non-flammable surface, such as ceramic or tile. 
3. Create a depression on top, turning the mound into a small volcano. 
4. Attention: working with fire! Help the child ignite the resulting volcano with a match and do not leave it unattended during the experiment. 
5. Watch as the self-sustaining exothermic reaction spectacularly transforms the orange ammonium dichromate into green ash. 

Result. A redox reaction in which the chromium atom that is part of the dichromate anion of the salt takes electrons from the nitrogen atoms found in the ammonium cation. 

The experiment set is intended for children over 5 years old. Children should conduct experiments only under adult supervision.
