The History of the Turks

On the 80th anniversary of Murad Adzhi, in memory of the writer and scholar. Under this cover are two books, published at different times. This is their fifth edition, supplemented and revised. The books tell about the Turkic people. Vivid descriptions and legends narrate about little-known events of world history, the life and customs of the ancient Turks, their achievements, victories, and defeats. The first book discusses the formation of the Turks as a people, their settlement across Eurasia, and the Great Migration of Peoples. It began in ancient Altai and reached Europe by the 4th century. The first to learn of the high culture of the Turks were India and Persia. Then – the Caucasus and the Urals, Byzantium and Rome... The author seems to open a window to the captivating past of Russia. The second book tells about the Middle Ages, about its "dark centuries." There are far too many mysteries left by that time! What was the world like after the death of Attila? The schism of the Church, the birth of Islam, the Crusades, the campaigns of Genghis Khan, the Inquisition – all these events are closely connected. In this series, the Turks were both heroes and victims.
