From the author of the books "The Trial", "The Metamorphosis" and "The Castle". In his short life, Kafka wrote an enormous number of letters. The main recipients were the writer's father, as well as his fiancée Felice Bauer, whom Franz... courted between 1912 and 1917. Kafka proposed to the girl twice and twice broke off the engagement — communication between the lovers was mainly conducted through correspondence, and Kafka created an image of his beloved that greatly diverged from reality. In his letters to Felice, the writer appears as a vulnerable and insecure young man who cannot cope with the overwhelming feelings he experiences.
