Letters to Felice

Kafka proposed to the girl twice and twice broke off the engagement — communication between the lovers was mainly conducted through correspondence, and Kafka created an image of his beloved that greatly diverged from reality. In his letters to Felice, the writer appears as a vulnerable and insecure young man who cannot cope with the overwhelming feelings he experiences.
