2380. Humanity has mastered the technology of rejuvenation and learned to live forever. The Interstellar Commonwealth unites over 600 planets inhabited by humans and connected by a network of faster-than-light transitions called wormholes. However, in this ideal world of the... future, something incredible happens unexpectedly: two neighboring stars, located a thousand light years from the Commonwealth, suddenly disappear. Scientists conclude that a technologically advanced civilization has built a giant shell around each of the two star systems. But for what purpose? Is this an attempt to protect themselves from an external threat, or, on the contrary, a necessity to isolate a cunning enemy? To uncover the truth, the spaceship 'Second Chance' sets out for the vanished stars. But what if things are actually even more complex and dangerous than they seem?
