Inazo Nitobe was the third son of a renowned samurai family from the city of Morioka in northern Japan. He spent his youth in the United States, at Johns Hopkins University, and after obtaining his doctorate, he returned to his... homeland. During this time, he published numerous books, including in English and German, the most famous of which is "Bushido: The Soul of Japan," first published in 1900.
