Vladimir Arsenyev dedicated most of his life to the exploration of the Far East. Even during the author's lifetime, the region began to change — the dense forests thinned out, the roar of the tiger was replaced by the rumble... of a steam locomotive, and in place of small Chinese shacks, large Russian villages grew.
