Embers of War

"I am not a machine; I am a being in which man and beast have mixed... I am related to pterosaurs, to ancient wolves and hawks" — this is how the "Angry Dog," an intergalactic heavy cruiser classed as a "predator," thinks of itself. Originally created for destruction and killing, but, unlike its wild ancestors, it has "grown" a conscience. After the recent end of a bloody war that destroyed Pelapatan — a planet with a unique biosphere and sentient jungles — the crew of the "Angry Dog," led by Captain Sally Constance, is carrying out a humanitarian mission. Assigned to aid a liner that crashed under strange circumstances, the captain is reluctantly forced to take aboard two agents who once belonged to opposing factions. They are very interested in one of the passengers of the crashed liner... Soon, what begins as a routine rescue operation turns into a dangerous raid. The embers of war are still smoldering, and it only takes a single misstep to fan them into flames again. Will the "Angry Dog" be able to extinguish a conflict that could engulf the entire galaxy?<\/p>
