Talented writer Daniil Fibikh created a unique picture of the era through the eyes of a witness who was destined to live through the most challenging, turning, and tragic years in the country's history. Enthusiastically embracing the revolution and working as a correspondent for "Izvestia," he was an author of stories, essays, and novellas, and voluntarily went to the front where he served as a correspondent on the front line. In June 1943, he was arrested on the denunciation of a fellow officer and sentenced to 10 years, which he fully served.
