The heroine of the novel dreams of returning to the beautiful island of her childhood, which is described as very similar to Corsica. She convinces herself and her loved ones that they need to build a house on a picturesque cliff by the sea — it will be their personal paradise, a quiet refuge that will save them from life’s storms. She does everything in her power, and at times even beyond, to make the house finally a reality. But years go by. The further it goes, the more insurmountable circumstances prevent the completion of construction. Is it possible that a real home is not where we are looking for it?

Only when illusions are finally shattered does the time for happiness arrive.
