Feminisms: A Global History

Feminism aims to unite under its banners and ideas a good half of humanity. The tasks are exclusively ambitious and humane – to combat gender injustice in all its ugly forms. However, the 250 years of the movement analyzed in this book by historian Lucy Delap have shown that it is not so simple – the feminist community is heterogeneous, and the tasks and goals at different historical stages can not only change but also come into dramatic contradiction with one another, while the problems of women from various social, ethnic, or religious strata often differ so greatly that arriving at a consensus is impossible without discussions.
