Her parents and two older sisters were sent to the gas chambers, while Eva and her twin Miriam were handed over to the man who became known as the Angel of Death, Dr. Josef Mengele. They were 10 years old. This is a remarkable and inspiring story of resilience and a thirst for life in the face of truly all-powerful evil, a story about the strength of the human spirit and the ability to forgive. Eva made a remarkable decision to publicly forgive the Nazis. She founded the CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Indiana, where she lectured on the history of the Holocaust, taught forgiveness, and worked to eradicate hate and prejudice in the world.
