Baltimore, 1975. 14-year-old Mary Jane attends a girls' school, loves cooking with her mother, singing in the church choir, and listening to melodies from Broadway productions. Her life changes drastically when she takes a summer job as a nanny for... the young daughter of a local psychiatrist. The respectable job in a reputable home is approved by Mary Jane's mother. However, it turns out that only the facade of the house conforms to her mother's expectations, while behind it lies true chaos: expired food in the refrigerator, things scattered everywhere, a lack of clear rules, and... an amazing harmony, openness, love, which are completely uncharacteristic of Mary Jane's home life. When stars of the entertainment industry – a rock musician with his movie actress wife – come to the psychiatrist, Dr. Kown, for treatment, Mary Jane's world turns upside down. She could never have imagined what this summer would be like for her. And what kind of person she would actually become.
