Anastasia. The Riddle of the Grand Duchess

The story of Anastasia is a tale about emigrants. It is a story of torturous indecision and monstrous misunderstandings. Ultimately, it is mainly the story of a family that found itself in a crisis, once a powerful dynasty confronted with a problem beyond its laws and traditions, a family partially destroyed during the revolution or forced into exile. And this family was asked to accept a sick, unstable, quarrelsome woman as its member, whom few were willing to consider normal, let alone the sole heiress of the tsar. The riddle of Anastasia lies not in Russia, but in the very family of the Romanovs, where pride and outward proprieties triumphed over compassion and condemned a human being to solitary existence in a world full of bitterness, accusations, and doubts.
