Igor Efimov and his wife Marina emigrated to America in 1978. There they created the publishing house "Hermitage", which lasted for 27 years and published authors such as Aksyonov and Averintsev, Bitov and Brodsky, Vail and Genis, Galich and Grekova,... Guberma and Dovlatov, Lev Losev and Anatoly Naiman, Evgeny Rein and Lyudmila Stern. In thirty-three years of life in the New World, Igor Efimov wrote eight novels, including - "The Archives of the Last Judgment", "The Seventh Wife", "The Court and the Matter", "The Unfaithful", "The Novgorod Interpreter", "The Bride of the Emperor", and others. His pen also produced historical-philosophical studies "The Shameful Secret of Inequality", "The Coming Attila", "Who Killed President Kennedy". All his books were reprinted in Russia after the fall of communism. The second volume of his memoirs "Connection of Times. In the New World" presents an extensive description of the life of Russian literary emigration at the end of the 20th century.
