Lions of Sicily. The Saga of Florio

A large family saga about the Florio family, whose history spans over 150 years and intertwines with the rises and falls of Sicily.

After the earthquake, the two Florio brothers, Paolo and Ignazio, move to Palermo and open a small spice shop. The locals receive the newcomers coldly, referring to them behind their backs as beggars. Soon, one of the brothers dies, leaving his wife Giuseppina and little Vincenzo in the care of the other. Ignazio and Giuseppina are secretly in love with each other but dare not confess even to themselves. Suffering from unrequited love, Ignazio pours all his efforts into developing the business and succeeds in it. Soon, the grown-up Vincenzo joins in running the family business, who also faces love dramas in the future and a lot, a lot of hard work, thanks to which the house of Florio will arise. A new Ignazio will follow, and this will be repeated from generation to generation.

The novel has a second part, "Lions of Sicily. The Sunset of an Empire." In it, Stefania Auci continues the story of the characters, and the reader will realize the reference to Gabriel Garcia Marquez's book "One Hundred Years of Solitude."

The family saga of Florio is the best-selling book in Italy for the last 4 years. More than 1.5 million copies have been sold. The novel has gone through 70 reprints, and the rights have been sold in 40 countries worldwide.

At the end of 2023, the first season based on the book titled "Sicilian Lions" was released on the streaming service Disney+, receiving a rating of 7.1 on IMDb.
