War with the Salamanders

Pearl divers find huge salamanders on one of the islands in the Pacific Ocean. It quickly becomes clear that these amphibians are capable of speaking different languages, reading, and reasoning. Soon, industrialists and magnates begin to use the trusting and... hard-working creatures for construction work throughout the World Ocean. The population of salamanders grows rapidly, and they form their own highly developed society. Gradually, the amphibians begin to tire of the cruel exploitation and wonder: do they really need humans? Salamanders all over the world join forces and declare war on humanity for extermination. Written more than eighty years ago, «War with the Salamanders» was intended as a warning against the increasing threat of Nazism, but the book remains relevant today.
