The text of the "Logical-Philosophical Treatise" can hardly be called extensive, but it is difficult to overestimate its significance for all subsequent European philosophy, and brevity in this case only indicates how concisely, clearly, and accurately Wittgenstein formulated his thought.... Seven short theses and just over a hundred pages of comments on them... but within this minimal volume, Wittgenstein managed to contain the translation into philosophical language of all the main ideas of logical analysis. "In the beginning was the Word," says the Bible, and if this is so, then Wittgenstein was one of the most devoted disciples of the Logos.
