From Rus' to Russia

The theme of the book by the outstanding Russian historian L.N. Gumilev (1912-1992) "From Rus' to Russia" is the creation of the Russian state from Rurik to the reign of Peter I. Through the lens of Gumilev's theory of passionary ethnogenesis, the author reflects on the processes occurring in Eurasia from the 6th to the 18th centuries. The combination of serious scientific generalizations and unexpected conclusions allows for a reassessment of well-known facts of Russian history from an unusual perspective.
