The heroes of the stories fight for justice and do good deeds, find... themselves in the epicenter of riots, confront robbers and werewolves, and converse with the spirits of deceased rulers who confess to the most disgraceful details of their unjust reign. All novellas are characterized by brilliant prose, vivid images of heroes, and captivating plots.
This edition also includes the collection "Tales of Spring Rain". Ueda worked on its content for almost two decades but never managed to publish it during his lifetime. The manuscript was long considered lost and only reached readers in the mid-20th century.
