Rejected by society, misunderstood by their contemporaries, the youth sought their place in the world in the breaks between nervous breakdowns, suicide attempts, and the use of banned substances. A grim phantasmagoria of instability and the alluring aura of depression – everything associated with the frenzied 1980s. "Prozac Nation" is a collective cry for help, voiced by Elizabeth Wurtzel, a victim and the voice of that strange era.
