Varvarin Island

Artist Andrei Davydov has returned to Varvarin Island, where he lived in childhood with his family. He is disappointed: family life did not work out, and there is stagnation in his career. On the way, Andrei helps a woman with... a deaf-mute girl: Klara was going to the island hoping that the local saint would heal her daughter. In his honor, a church was built, although it is strangely located – not on a hill, but in a lowland… Davydov settles into his old house. Over time, he starts to notice something is off, but for now, he cannot understand what is happening and attributes everything to coincidences. Finally, Andrei finds an unsent letter from his father. After reading it, he realizes: Varvarin Island is a strange place, it does not hasten to let go of those who end up there. Many stay forever, and no one knows how to avoid this fate…
